Great Weekend

I went to the beach and rented a three person bicycle cart on Saturday morning. It was a riot. Sidney and Leslie and I had fun riding up and down the main road that runs along the beach. We got many stares and looked a little looney I'm sure, laughing our heads off the entire way. My stomach hurt from laughing so much that I could barely pedal at some points. Check out the pictures!

Today, we walked to victory plaza in Dalian City, where we promptly drew a crowd of about 50 chinese people who meet there for "English Corner" every sunday to practice their english. For about an hour we chatted with people who crowded around us asking questions about where we were from, how we like china and dalian, how we feel about education and how we teach, how different things compare between China and the US, how many people were in our families, and the professions of our parents and siblings. It was amazing how attentive folks were. Parents were shoving their children toward us and urging the shy ones to speak up and ask questions, while the bold ones talked a mile a minute trying to hold our attention. They begged us to come back next week and to give our contact information and to possibly tutor each and every one of them. I had previously given my business card out to two of the students who I thought I might e-mail with. This turned out to be a big mistake when I later realized that everyone was passing the business card around the group and diligently writing down my email address and phone number. I hope I don't get barraged with email tutor requests and the like!
