I went for a long bike ride this morning. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Sunny and warm. the only sign of winter was the yellow grasses, a bit of frost clinging in the shady corners, and a crisp wind. I biked along the beach, following the coast as far as I could. I passed Jin Shi Tan on the left and continued along the road hugging the crystal blue waters that were rolling up along the shore and making a lulling sea noise. The coast got rockier and there were many rock formations along the shoreline that were growing bigger and bigger, some out in the water, until I reached the dinosaur drinking the sea formation, which until now I have only seen in pictures advertising this area. I have to admit it was pretty cool. I wanted to climb down there and into and out of the cave-like openings in the rocks, but I had my bike and there was a rope separating me and the formations with some forboding Chinese characters written on a sign which I assume meant, "Not for you." Ah well. I'll come back another day and break the rules when I don't have to also deal with my bike.
I took a dirt road into the mainland when the road along the shore ended at the famous Jin Shi Tan golf course and they would not let me in. I found a little field in the middle of nowhere with rustling tree branches and grasses. I laid down for a perfect undisturbed nap while staring up at the blue blue sky. (Did I ever mention how beautiful the sky always is here? Especially at night.)
I returned home the way I came, stopping for a second nap on the beach just before my house, basking in the sun.
