There she is! Our little girl :) We finally got to see her face yesterday! She seems to be happy and healthy and growing well. The doctor said that it seems like she is a very long baby because of the femur measurements. Right now, she weighs 3.8 pounds and has 11 more weeks to "bake"! Can you see her big eyelid with eyelashes in the left side of this photo? you can also see a trace of a nose and a smile!
Ted and I visited the maternity ward at the hospital yesterday. We got a mini-tour of all the birthing rooms and the rooms you stay in for a few days after the birth for monitoring and baby training. There is a room where the nurses teach you how to bathe, nurse, and diaper properly. There are lounging rooms for feeling more "human". The birthing rooms are simple and clean, but two of them have giant jacuzzi tubs for water delivery if you choose. There is a set of climbing bars against one wall and some circus-y looking ropes hanging from the ceiling over the bed for pulling on? Ted came out looking a bit shell shocked after I asked hundreds of questions about what to bring, what insurance does or doesn't cover, birthing classes in english (not available), etc etc.... Most questions the midwife could answer, some she could not because she didn't know the english words, or because there were no english language versions of paperwork or services offered. Anyway, it was good to set eyes on the "venue"!
